An Ohio Dairy

SECURITY PLUS KEYLESS HOMEAN OHIO DAIRY BACK TO STRATEGY

DOWNLOAD A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROJECT

A family run Ohio Dairy refused to sell out to the big dairy companies as the business began to consolidate. To fight back they invented a new bottling technology: The stackable milk bottle. This saved money on handling because you could stack entire orders of various milks directly on a pallet which could be wrapped in plastic (instead of put in plastic milk crates), shipped and then inserted as-is into the milk cases at Costco, their major client.

The dairy's problem was that, after spending so much to develop their new capability, they were seriously leveraged and they weren't making enough of a margin to be profitable enough.

The Dairy's answer was they should no longer have been in the dairy business. There were several reasons for this but chief amongst them was they had an expertise with their technology which could apply to more than dairy and they were outclassed in the dairy sector by their competition in the form of Dean Foods and others. What they needed to do was build a capability to successfully license this technology to many sources, including Dean Foods! They had to sell off their dairy business and go whole hog into making this great idea of theirs a practicable licensing product.
