Helen, Sweetheart of the Internet is a strip about
the "glamour" of the Information Age. The title character is a
beautiful and brilliant computer geek named Helen Nichols, who in her mid-twenties
runs the information systems department of a large company. Helen, her friends
and co-workers inhabit an intense world where humor is as necessary as a
good LAN. I am on sabbatical from "Helen" as of December 26, 2005. |
As a character, Spencer Green was born in the latter days of my
senior year at the University of Chicago. He appeared as a character in
the very last strip I drew for that school's paper, The Maroon
(the strip was called "Chicago Style"). I changed the strip
to "Spencer Green" for the Daily Free Press of Boston
University (after I became a student at the Massachusetts College of Art),
and it was later picked up by the College Press Service which syndicated
it to several hundred college papers around the country.
